This is a beautiful, yet unusual deck, in that it has French suits, which makes it a Tarot Nouveau, which would normally be used for playing the French game of Tarot. This deck, however, is marketed by the publisher as a divinatory Tarot, and includes a booklet in English and French containing instructions on using the cards for that purpose. In short, we leave it to you what you want to use this deck for. It is indeed a rare breed!

There is a guide on reading cards. But such definitely isn't my persuasion. Despite its "divinatory" title, it's really just a fancy Tarot Nouveau. How anyone can "read" into these cards is beyond me. $26 is rather steep for the deck's base price. But hey, the Dal Negro's is $30. From what internet scans I've seen on the Dal Negro's deck, the hand drawings are goofy, yet they're better than I ever could draw.

Our cards travel a great distance to get to us (we get them directly from the European manufacturers), and during transit, some of the tuck boxes experience some damage. This does not normally damage the cards inside, however. While we do try to get replacement boxes for the cards, they are not always available, or the manufacturer simply does not provide them. Some manufacturers feel that the tuck boxes only serve for labeling purposes and for protection of the cards. "If the cards inside are undamaged," they say, "then the box has done its job." In other words, you are paying for the cards, not the package.

Even though the manufacturers may feel that way, we normally put decks with damaged boxes aside and send out only the items that are in the best condition. During this clearance sale, as quantities of items dwindle, the items with damaged boxes will finally be shipped out. Since the items in this sale are on clearance, all sales are FINAL, so please understand that we cannot accept returns for damaged boxes.
