TaroBear's Lair had its start in the mind of its founder, Gary Brunger, who, after years of playing the French game of Tarot online with the screen name "TaroBear", decided he would attempt to help spread this game, and others like it, throughout North America. On a local level he did this by starting his own club in the Cleveland area, the North East Ohio Tarot Players (now expanded and renamed The Cleveland Card Game Players), and on a national level, he felt it was important to purchase large quantities of the cards used for these games so that he could offer them to the American Tarot-playing community at a much more affordable price than they would pay when ordering one or two decks from overseas.
The American Tarot-playing community responded very favorably!
The store inventory has since been expanded to include not only Playing Tarots, but also other regional playing cards from all of the "hot spots" of European card-play; Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland.
It is the goal of TaroBear's Lair to be the one-stop shop for imported, hard-to-find, card decks of all types.
